Different Year But Nothing Has Changed

It’s been quite some time since I updated this and in that time nothing has changed.  Gas prices are still through the roof although they have come down some.  Real estate agents are still telling us the market is going to improve soon.  Our elected leaders are telling us the economy is growing yet nobody is getting ahead.

The same has held true for the advertising industry.  People are staying with what is working.  What that means is you’ll see the same materials recycled over and over again.  The same color schemes but different amounts of material make the Venture Business Tote an interesting addition to the line this year.  With some flash on the front and sides and tons of storage this tote can be taken on an expedition just about anywhere.  We have really come to appreciate most everything that comes out of Gem and this piece is no exception.

Forecasts for 2012 were initially very high but the year ended with a big thud.  It will be interesting to see how things play out the rest of 2012.

Functional and With a Purpose Aluminum Bottles

With durable materials just beginning to take hold as viable alternatives to traditional materials used for cups and bottles aluminum is gradually because a more widely accepted source.  For the first year they were available there were concerns about the potential for leaching from the material but that has all but been eliminated with new food grade liners.

In additional one manufacturer is rolling out a socially acceptable alternative in the Hope Aluminum Bottle which not only meets the criteria for food safety and good looks but also contributes to helping others.  The manufacturer of this bottle will contribute ten percent of each purchase throughout 2011 to Habitat for Humanity.  The bottle is well priced to begin with which should reduce fears that there is an added markup to compensate for the donation.

The advantage of aluminum over stainless is magnified when shipping costs are considered.  Just like airplanes, aluminum provides significant weight reductions which in turn greatly reduce the overall shipping costs.  Taking a step back they will even make it easier to distribute at the end user show or event as the boxes in which they come are so much lighter.

Coating The Way to Profitability

I really like this, just came across it today.  The problem with polypro is you cannot clean it, these you can. The Laminated Non-Woven Box Deluxe Convention Tote will hold text books or manuals and with the advantage of being laminated it will last for years to come.  Keep in mind these aren’t highly durable 600d goods but they will often outlast the underlying brand that is imprinted on them.

Robert Reich: A Worried Postscript to the House Health Care Bill

If you’ve followed Mr Reich on the web you’ll know he’s an extremely intelligent invidual.  His fear of this bill should scare the rest of us.

Improving My Memory The Recycled Way

Just came across a pretty interesting eco-friendly flash drive. I’ve seen some recycled drives that are made with lousy chips, this one is all first rate.   The EcoDrive USB Flash Drive 4GB has a ton of storage and is made from reclaimed materials.
